  10. I have a mac model (Quadra 630) with an infra-red sensor that supports
  11. a TV-like remote control.  The following information may be of interest.
  12.  
  13. 1. The remote control uses the same signals as a Sony TV.
  14.  
  15. 2. If the remote control is operated while an application is actively using a
  16.    modem connected to the "modem" serial port, the application will crash.
  17.  
  18. 3. The crashes do not occur if the modem is connected to the "printer" serial
  19.    port instead.
  20.  
  21. 4. The crashes do not occur if an externally-clocked device (such as the
  22.    Connectix QuichCam) is using the "modem" serial port.

  25. I would be interested in hearing whether other users have had
  26. similar experiences, or know of an explanation for this.
